ATELIER & CO — Skeuomorphic Leather Goods

ATELIER & CO is a luxury leather-goods brand website built entirely with skeuomorphic design. Every material texture — leather, wood, metal, glass, linen, plastic — is generated with CSS and SVG filters. Zero texture images.

Flat design won, but lost the ability to make things feel real. The goal was to bring skeuomorphism back as material honesty (not nostalgia), with zero texture images — everything generated with CSS and SVG.

Solution

6 CSS-generated material textures using SVG feTurbulence, repeating gradients, conic gradients, and backdrop-filter. 4-layer shadow formula for physical depth. Physical button states with inverted shadows. Draggable control panel modifying shadow depth, bevel width, corner radius in real-time. Spotlight cursor effect. Chrome specular highlights.
